The Port Bomb

Rally March Speed Port Bomb

This is a specialized Rally type, one not to be used on Trap accounts or anyone over 100m power, as there is No Hero in the Rally.

Port Bomb Basics

Your alliance has found a target with a good amount of troops, but they either have weak hero gear or are offline. Do not Port Bomb someone with anti-scout on, if they are reinforced you stand to lose a bunch of troops. Have your Rally leader start a rally Without a Hero in it. When the rally is 10 seconds away from marching, have the Rally Leader teleport next to the Target.

Critical Point: You cannot execute this maneuver if the Hero is in the rally.

Why A Port Bomb is Killer

This is a great way to surprise the enemy. You could even set this up over a period of time, by fake rallying on the enemy. When they become complacent about the rallies being set, that's when you can utilize "The Drive By". It is a Risk, but it allows your alliance to execute a rally from a long distance away.

Clarifications

You cannot port the rally if any of the peoples troops who are joining your rally have reached your city. The troops joining your rally have to be on their way in order be in the rally. So you set the rally (without your hero) while sitting away from the rest of your alliance (at least 5 minutes away), and then everyone joins. When the rally is 10 seconds from hitting, you port next to the enemy, all of the people’s troops that joined your rally enter all at once and the person you’re hitting never sees it coming.

Note from Navi: I can see this strategy being particularly useful against inexperienced new players in new kingdoms. Some of those players wait too long to build a strong hero or don't leave their hero skilled for attack which leaves them extremely weak. Also, they often will not turn on attack boosts until they know they are being attacked. All these factors leave them vulnerable. I am a little nervous to do this to a player who I've never attacked, but in non-ancient kingdoms you get to know how your enemies pretty quickly and learn whether or not they would be vulnerable to a Port Bomb.

  1. You forgot some major information about how this works. You cannot port the rally if any of the peoples troops who are joining your rally have reached your city. The troops joining your rally have to be on their way currently in order be in the rally. So you set the rally(without your hero) while sitting away from the rest of your alliance(At least 5 minutes away), and then everyone joins. When the rally is 10 seconds from hitting, you port next to the enemy, all of the people’s troops that joined your rally enter all at once and your prepped and the person you’re hitting never sees it coming. We used this in Lio in 2013 before there were many people over 100mil and hero gear was relatively shit and a fully T4 rally could actually do a lot of damage even without a hero.

  2. Thanks for all the great articles Chad. I find this information interesting but as a non-spender I’ll never likely make it to “Big” territory. Is there any chance of getting more strategy articles for “Smalls” and even….let’s call ’em “Tinys” (<10 mil)?

    • You’ll make it past 10 mil soon enough! I suggest you look at my tip archive for older articles that are surely still applicable to smaller players like you 🙂

  3. Cost of a teleport, cost of 75% march speed up’s?
Fact of the matter is rallys are never utilized, but its good to know this is a possibility to catch someone offguard.

  4. Port rallies used to be the bomb back when you could do them with a hero. About 8 or 9 months ago in Zolin I was a rank 4 in an alliance called F1Y. It was part of the FLY family. The next biggest alliance family at the time was PWN. We ripped them apart in about 2 weeks after we figured out the port rally bugg. Good times, now I’m just a peon because I can’t afford to buy gold, I miss the good old days sometimes….thank god for the ability to trap account…14 hospitals FTW!

  5. Port bomb rally is a bad strategy u loose bunch of troops for no reason …..rally without hero takes out all the attacking bonuses …..port bomb attack on the other end is much more effective for the players u r talking i mean under 100mil, 2-3 strong players port same time and solo attack major damage can be done specially if they have 1-2 relics or cores on …..also now with the rally reduction time research rally time is 1 min if u have done the lvl10 so even if he the notifications that he is on he will barely have time to come on and shield or port out

  6. I see more people talking about these port bombs than actually doing them. I agree with Navi, seems more apporpropriate for new kingdoms/noobs. It’s usually the smaller/newer players always talking about them.
