Monster Skills for Mythic Monsters and World Bosses

Monster Skill Points

Question: "How should I allocate my monster skill points?"

Answer: "The way in which you can do the most damage to the monster, the most often."

This was good advice for a long time.  However, now in Game of War hitting monsters provides very little return.  Monster hitting is now about Mythic Monsters and World Bosses.  Its important to setup hero to maximize your hits on these tough monsters.

This article was updated 11/15/2016 for relevancy.  I've retained the original monster hitting strategy for classic monsters.  However, current monster hitting strategy is focused around Mythic Monsters and World Bosses which have a slightly different focus.

Mythic and World Boss Strategy

First, to hit World Boss's you must first unlock it in the Hero Research Tree.  In your Monster Skill tree an Unlock Mythic Monster skill is available at Hero Level 61.  The priority for hitting Mythic and World Bosses is the following:

  1. Monster Defense Debuff 10/10
  2. Energy Cost Reduction 10/15
  3. Energy Recover 10/15
  4. Hero Attack 15/15
  5. Hero Attack Streak 15/15
  6. Maximum Energy Limit 30/30
  7. Unlock Mythic Monster
  8. Mythic Troop Load 10/30
  9. Mythic Gather Speed 30/30
  10. Alliance Helps on Mythic Monster Kill 25/25
  11. Bonus Alliance Streak 10/10
  12. Mythic Gather Speed II 50/50

The reasoning behind the this setup is you will hit Mythic and World Bosses many times in a row.  You have no use for energy recovery because you will be using energy packs to replenish quickly.  Second, you need a very high streak. When fighting Mythic and World's you will first build up your streak before max hitting.  The higher you can get your streak the bigger your hits will be.  So, prioritize Alliance Helps and Bonus Alliance Streak.

Once the monster is dead you need to clear the tile as fast a possible.  This is where the Mythic Gather Speed I and II come into play.  I chose these over Mythic Troop Load because you can always head back to the tile once your troop load is full.

The remainder of this article is for hitting classic monsters.

At the very end is a video I did a couple years ago. Enjoy!

Classic Monster Hitting Strategy
critchance

  1. Damage - To kill the monster as fast as possible
  2. Amount of hits - The more hits I do on the monster, the more materials I receive, and more damage I do
  3. Energy recovery time - The faster I recovery energy the more hits I can do
  4. Max energy - The more energy the more hits
  5. Attack streak - The attack streak bonus becomes very useful when you can hit the monster a lot of times.

Therefore, I allocate my points in this order: Monster Defense Debuff > Energy Cost Reduction > Hero Attack > Energy Recovery > Maximum Energy Limit > Hero Attack Streak

More Valuable Tips

Tip 1: Try to send your hero to attack a monster every time you login. In the long run, all the items you acquire will add up and be very helpful 🙂

Tip 2: If a monster is close and you have attack streak points, attackstreakrepeatedly hit the monster with single hits (not "max attack") so that you get attack streak bonuses.

Tip 3: You can attack a monster even if you are shielded.

Tip 4: Research the items that are most important according to my priorities above, or your priorities that you chose. For example, March Speed really isn't THAT useful, especially if you are doing hero research to kill monsters faster. Don't waste your rss and gold on insignificant research items.

The Bigger The Hit, The Better The Drop by Anthony

"Okay I've been doing a lot of testing on this monster subject and I'm still trying to find the best setup. According to posts above they would small attack and continue to small attack for more items from monsters. With my hero I had 54,000 energy and I tested whats better, if you're going down the skill tree I did 5 points then next 2 put 10 points in each, then maxed attack streak put rest in energy. Then killed monster with all small attack ended up with okay items, then with max attack usually killed it in 2 hits and found the items i got from max attack were a lot better and more than going other route.

All monsters were level 5 because its hard to find a level 6 people leave alone. Every test i tried and did all kinds of skill points above was the quickest kill and seemed like the harder i hit the monsters the more items I got but also better items than with small attack. Has anyone else noticed this?"

  1. Is there an update to this, 100% maxed out tree, still have 59 points left

  2. Who has the most monster kills in GoW?

  3. Who has the most monster kills in the game of war?

  4. What is a World Monster?..

    • This monster appears periodically in the forest of your kingdom. He’s quite the tough little SOB and several members of your alliance will be needed to take him down. Once he’s down though a dungeon appears usually that you can enter for a GLORIOUS adventure ;).

  5. Hero tree max left side. Rest in energy regen then cap. New hero research combined with Dark Hunter gear lets you reach 100% critical chance. With mine currently at 90% a level 6 goes down with one 140k energy hit and my cap is 350k. Many lvl2 monsters drop with single energy hit.

  6. With legendary monster slayer gear your capacity helps but with all other gears it’s not worth it. I do defense debuff, energy cost/recovery (10), max hero attack, lvl 3 streak and the rest to capacity. If I have to short something I do debuff to lvl 5.

At lvl 60 I usually hit lvl 5 monsters with 2 max hits. Lvl 6 with 4 hits. Max attack gives more and better items.

Single hits are good for lvl 1 and 2 monsters.

  7. during kvk if you dont want to drop your shield and just kill monsters to get points on the board its best to save as much energy you can for killing monsters. I have 54k hero energy and sue a 25% monster attack boost along with a 200% 5 min march boost which doubles my hero attack boost. during kvk i do not use the max attack i do several single attacks and gain points with hits until it kills the monster. for instance, if you are in an outlander kingdom, and you get 10k points for hitting a lvl 4 monster you can hit it 5 times and get 50k points and then a kill for 40k points which will give you 90k points in kvk points. which is more points than you would gain in using max attack twice and killing a monster. yes you get more gifts by max attack but more points add up to more gifts during kvk.

  8. I don’t put any points into max energy. I have 56000 energy without any points in it. I put those points in attack steak thus better multiple hits. A lvl 5 hydra I hit 6 times and gain a 120 bonus then do max hit. Hydra dies. Total hits, 12 to 13. With the new monster gear you shouldn’t need to put anything into max energy. An alliance member of mine has over 60000 energy and no max energy points. With all monsters gear and gems you can kill lvl 6 hydras with 15 hits. I will try to post all stats later

  9. Okay ive been doing alot of testing on this monster subject and im still trying to find the best setup. 10. Can you earn hero skill and monster skill points after you reach hero level 50?

  11. Hello, For monster kills, I’ve found that with a little research the attack streak in hero skills becomes redundant. rather max everything except streak and add whatever is left into energy capacity. lvl 5 monsters could be killed easily in under 15 hits. And attack streak will be enough to cover all the hits so not necessary in skill points…

  12. Good post but still, I feel that it needs more info and even some graphics. I have a level 49 hero, almost 50 and my farm heroes are at level 45. I still haven´t found a good way to use this points.

    • Thanks for the feedback, I’ve updated to include photos. What are you struggling with in terms of allocating points?

      • I just reached level 50 hero, but I cant find the best formula for the points. Seems to me that attack streak is less important, but I am not sure.

        • I tend to use attack streak when the monsters are nearby and I can send my hero to them quickly over and over again in order to stack the attack streak bonus.

  13. My question is why can’t I do a max attack on level 3 or 4 monsters?

  14. hey all Dirty here, not sujesting that this is a better hero build by any means but if looking for items for hits not dmg put primary focus on Max enery, energy cost reduction, and recovery. the rest fall in which ever order you like. With this build the idea is to hit a monster as manny times as possible you wont kill the monster in my experience just simply hit it more often giving you more chances at speedups or dropped prizes. for me specing your hero in this way gives you at least one more hit on the highest monster you can attack every time you can attack a monster within your energy time frame.

Deedz, your build is a good alternative for those who are online a lot each day in my opinion. Not so good for those who log in once or twice a day for a few minutes or hour. Do you agree?

  15. and happy birthday XD

    • One Thing for ur forum In my experience about forging , i have forged Many gears but i had about that if u have 70% purple material and 30% blue Then u Will get nearly purple item , i Got this opposite , i have made mirror, spiked armor , oddesys book , and scythe , first i tried spiked armor with 70% purple and one blue and it made purple In the last . I Was very happy , i Got greedy . And Then i tried scythe and used one blue metal and all rest 3 purpal , 4days some Hours to complete . I used speed time and blue shit item came. Same happened with mirror . I Was so pissed of and tried last item with same 70%/30% blue came out , now i have given up , Will never gonna waste materials on chances.
Can i deconstruct items ? Or what do u do with these blue ? Or should a gem lvl 5 should further combined to make lvl 6 just for 5% more , i have one spiked armor purple . And attacked 3 lvl 5 gems on it , now regreting a bit becsuse my hero is lvl 48 and it Will be expensive When taking those gems off lager on . Whats ur experience

Ya, personally I never would have left it to a 70% chance. A “C” grade is never acceptable to me haha.
You cannot deconstruct items unfortunately :/
As far as combining those lvl5 gems to make a level 6, I would do it if I wasn’t planning on making another piece of gear soon. But if I was close to hero lvl 50 or wanting to craft a lot of gear, I would not combine the level 5 gems.
But really, at hero lvl 48 you are probably still preeeettty far from 50. I will make a forum post asking people how much hero experience you need for each level.

      • You can deconstrict crafted items, you click on your forge, then go to inventory, then click the item you no longer want, then click break item. You will get back 1 material you use to craft it but you will lose your gems if you dont remove them first

      haha 😀
