Are you ready to head into battle? Or do you have questions?
It’s not uncommon to have a lot of questions as you’re setting up your account. We often hear many of the same questions, and we do our best to answer them; however, sometimes, we’re not able to.
And, sometimes, as much as we dislike it, our guides are out of date. So, what do you do when you are seeking to make sure that your Empire is battle-ready and you can’t find your answers in our Line rooms or guides?
You come here, to the last Game of War Strategy guide that you will ever need. Keep reading as we answer all of the questions you often ask.
What Should My Stats Be?
What should my stats be in order to trap or attack? This question is often asked and to be honest; it’s very difficult to answer. However, if you’re looking for a ballpark, spend some time talking to players who have effective setups.
Ask if they would be willing to share their current stats with you. That can give you stats to shoot for, however, remember, with the game constantly changing, those numbers will change as well.
What Stats Do I Need?
This is the biggest question we will cover. The answer to this question will guide the answer to other questions that we explore throughout this guide. The stats you need are going to be dependent on your individual playstyle.
For defenders, it’s important to focus on several stats. We went into stats more in-depth in our how to build your stats series. However, for a quick synopsis today, we’ll give you a list of stats to focus on for defenders.
- Empire Defender Stats
- Type Stats
- General troop stats
It’s important to keep in mind what current debuffs are when it comes to general troop stats and type stats. If attackers reach a certain level when it comes to debuffs, it could mean that your stats are getting zeroed out.
Currently, the only stats that can’t get debuffed are Empire Defender stats. However, while there are debuffs available for type stats, type stats are also still a very important stat to defenders.
Attackers have a lot of stats to focus on as well. Our quick list for attackers includes:
- Empire Assault Stats
- Type Stats
- General Troop Stats
- Battlemark Stats
For our attackers, you’re more likely to have stats that are over the debuff threshold when it comes to general troop stats. Not many defenders will have the ability to fully debuff your stats. While our recommendation is to always build your stats before worrying about debuffing your opponent you do want to ensure that you take advantage of the debuffs that are offered as they can really help weaken your opponent.
Our quick list for stats to focus on as a Wonder player includes:
- Wonder Specific stats
- Type Stats
- General Troop Stats
- Battlemark Stats
Many of our notes for attackers also hold true for Wonder players. However, we have another important point for our Wonder players.
Pay attention as you build your setup. There are Wonder-specific stats that are specifically for defending the Wonder and stats that are specifically for attacking the Wonder. As you set up, make sure you have a setup for defending and attacking.
How Do I Specifically Know What Stats I Need?
Knowing what stats you need comes down to knowing how to read reports and testing. We will look at the three main stats, what they do, and what might indicate you need to focus on that stat.
Attack isn’t just for our attackers and Wonder players. This stat is essential to anyone who plays the game.
Attack allows you to kill off more of your opponent’s troops. That means for defenders, if you’re not killing the full march, you need more attack. You can get more attack through building more troops or stats.
For Wonder players, if you’re struggling to kill enough of your opponent’s troops, you need more attack. You are limited in how many troops you can have in your march. This means that you will mainly build your attack through stats.
For Attackers, if you want to kill more of your opponent’s troops, build your attack stats. Because your deployment size is going to be limited to a certain size, you will rely heavily on stats versus troops for your attack.
Defense is going to help protect your troops from getting killed. While this stat is mainly for our defenders, it does play a role for attackers and Wonder players as well.
If you’re easily killing off your opponent’s deployment, but your troops are lighting up like kindling, you need more defense.
Health is essential to every type of player. Think of Health as Popeye’s spinach. Having more health means that you are stronger.
It essentially allows your troops to keep defending or attacking longer before they die. Health is a stat we actually prioritize over defense because, without it, your troops will be kindling. If you’re struggling to keep your troops alive, add health and then defense.
As you’re building your Empire, there are some key questions to ask yourself as you work to determine what you need. Knowing these questions and why they’re important will help you make decisions about your Empire.
What Type of Player Am I?
Being able to define your playstyle is key. This will help you hone in on the stats that are the most important to you.
This is one of the most basic questions you can ask yourself. If you’re still working on defining your playstyle, be sure to check out this article.
Do I Need this Feature?
When you’re playing on a budget, understanding what you need and don’t need is essential. The fact of the matter is, if you’re a defender, you don’t need the latest Banner with Wonder Stats.
When you are deciding whether or not you need a certain feature, there are a series of questions you can ask to help answer that.
- What stats does this feature give?
- Does it give the stats I need for my playstyle?
- Is there another feature I can get that gives a bigger increase in stats?
- How effective is this feature in this playstyle?
Asking and answering these questions will help you determine whether you need a feature. Remember, you don’t always have to buy new releases right away. By giving other people time to acquire and test them, you can see how beneficial they truly are.
In addition, as time passes features typically cost less. This will help you save money as well.
What Troops Should I Build?
If you’re an Attacker or Wonder Player, the obvious answer to this question is the highest tier. However, at times the cost to build that tier is quite expensive.
When new tiers arrive, you want to be cautious with the cost. At that point in time, many defenders will not have new troops as quickly as attackers.
One thing you might want to consider is continuing to use the older tier until RSS amounts catch up with the current amount. Use your new troops wisely on targets you can’t burn or in Wonder for an extra edge.
When it comes to defenders, there is a common misconception that unless you have the highest tier, you will automatically burn. However, this isn’t true.
Many accounts with lower tiers of troops will hold up very well against the higher tier. At this point, it comes down to stats. You need to increase your stats enough that your lower-tier troops can get a boost.
While you will be able to run a lower troop count by using the highest tier, when it comes to cost, sometimes you need to depend on stats and wait to train the highest tier of troops.
Should I Upgrade This Feature?
This question is mainly for defenders. When it comes to attackers and Wonder players, you want to upgrade features that support your stats to the highest level.
However, if your goal is to trap, things will look a little different. You want attackers to believe you will be a good target. Therefore, take a moment to step outside of yourself.
Look at players and what you can see about their accounts. Does upgrading a feature make them less of a target? Or is it something that you can’t even tell has been upgraded?
Understanding visible versus hidden stats is important as you answer this question.
Visible stats are stats that you can tell a person has. For example, you can see Hero level or VIP.
Hidden stats are stats that you can’t tell a person has. For example, you can’t tell whether your opponent is running a Potion or what stats it’s giving.
As a trap, your first goal should be to upgrade hidden stats and then cautiously move into visible stats if you need the numbers still.
It’s important to consider that you also don’t want to be too out of date. If your account looks too old, players may assume that it’s a dead account and simply ignore you.
Are you ready to go out and conquer the battlefield? Having a good grasp on stats is essential. Keep reading to learn more.
