Past Player Spotlights
Our Community is made up of a diverse set of players. Take a chance to get to know them in the past Player SpotLights we have done.
August Player SpotLight
You have seen this player in the game, on the Line App, and featured in a Savage Arab Video. He almost needs no introduction, however, we will introduce you! For August, we will be taking a closer look at Bad Santa (maybe we should have done his profile in December).
Bad Santa is well known in the Game of War Community and we were excited for the chance to find out more about his Game of War history. Join us as we meet Bad Santa.
In-Game Name: JustBadSanta
Alliance: WAB (Weak Azz Bitchez)
Accomplishments: “I don’t play for accomplishments.”
Bad Santa started playing Game of War in the late summer of 2016. He began in the Kingdom, 932. At the time, he did not know what he was doing. However, after playing for a few months in December of that year he decided to become a trap.
I had just got a few packs to up my hero levels to be a lead and that night they released new hero levels. I then transitioned that account from a small lead account into an Econ trap account. It wasn’t long after that when I made a new account that was built directly for trapping (lower power, selective research, etc).
Bad Santa talked about the fact that this slowly turned into an obsession and at one point he was running three to four trap accounts during events. Each of these accounts would have something unique about them such as low VIP, low Hero levels, low Building Levels.
Taking a Break
Bad Santa took some time off the game during the days of two to three new releases a day and going back and forth between capping everything and being a one-hit zero. However, his interest in the game was resparked when he heard about the Dragon Dimension.
Returning to Game of War
When Bad Santa found out about the Dragon Dimension he was told that everything was back to the old ways. He started building an account in Kingdom 1151 before he found out that some of his old alliance friends were also playing. However, they were in a different Kingdom. So he started another account in that kingdom and he has been with a few of them since.
Since returning to the Dragon Dimension he has only trapped. Well except for when he has decided to lead a few rallies with his Hero 2. What is important to note about his Hero 2 is that it is only a Level 4 Hero, so if you ever hear Bad Santa talking about his Hero 4, take a deep breath and calm down. There are still only three heroes in the Dragon Dimension.
The main reason I still play is because of the friends I’ve met through the game. Our alliance has a very close family type connection, even without meeting each other in person. I also enjoy helping others out who may be new to the game or returning to the game after being away for a while.
What is Bad Santa Wearing?
The Gear says a lot about the type of player. Bad Santa’s gear is constantly changing but he did give us some fun insight into why he has chosen the gear he wears.
Right now I am in monster gear because there is an event going on that gives good rewards. During kill events, I generally am in an ugly mixed color of Frostlord but have judicator on a preset ready in case someone rallies me. In dragon realm, I am probably most known for my hero 2, level 4, which is limited to including 3 magical family rings (inside joke).
Bad Santa’s Most Memorable Win
We all have memorable wins over the year. Bad Santa’s most memorable win has been one that included capping a well-known player, right after she won Super Wonder.
[My] Most memorable win would be a rally cap of Ctesse right after one of their SW wins.
His most memorable loss also came from a well-known Game of War player. It shows how quickly things could change in Game of War and how one little thing can make a huge difference.
[The] most memorable loss was to YukiSmackU. [I] don’t have a SS of that one. To sum it up, I had capped her rally in the morning. Then that afternoon (after a name change) she rallied me again and one hit zeroed me. Nothing new had been released and she said all she did was tweak a few building orb boosts slightly.
What are Bad Santa’s Best memories?
We all have a lot of memories from our time spent playing Game of War. That is no different for Bad Santa.
There has been a ton of great memories over the years with a lot of different people. I’d say my best overall memory was a day that WarGods and I decided to port around to different kingdoms to get action. I don’t remember how many solo and rally caps the 2 of us had that day, but it was non-stop action all day long. It wasn’t uncommon for double or triple rallies, and there wasn’t even an event going on at the time. Went through so many ransoms that day, I ended up just releasing people because I was running low on ransoms.
Bad Santa’s Advice to players
I love getting different tidbits from various players and hearing what advice they have to give to the rest of the Game of War Community.
Join the GOW community on the Line App and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Lots of players of all are willing to share tips and tricks. Also, get in an alliance that is built on trust with people who will help you in the game.
Since Bad Santa mentioned it… I will go ahead and plug our Line Community! We are there and willing to help. Join us on the Line App by adding thatcinder and requesting an invite to the Game of War Room. We are also on Discord if you would like to join us there.
Bad Santa’s thoughts on the Dragon Dimension vs the Demigod Dimension
Each of us has a Dimension that we prefer. For Bad Santa, it is the Dragon Dimension and this is why…
I like the dragon dimension because it reminds me more of when I started playing (aside from the dragon part). I haven’t been back on the demigod side of the game since before I took a break other than to complete a few events for rewards on the dragon side.
One thing in the game that is exciting to Bad Santa right now.
As much as I enjoyed capping attacks/rallies, I would have to say the new reborn dragon levels are exciting. The game had gotten very stale because of the lack of people attacking. Due mostly to people being scared to lose their hero and having to hemlock. It seems in the dragon realm, people didn’t release heroes as much as they used to in the other dimension and hemlock can get expensive for leads since it isn’t in every pack. The dragon levels changed that and now people are more willing to attack others knowing that they most likely will get their hero back due to the dragon being harder to kill.
