How To Choose The Research Tree For You
With the ridiculous amount of new research Game of War is releasing, it’s becoming harder for players to decide which research trees they want to focus on with the limited resources they have. Choosing which research tree you want to complete with your limited resources is once again a matter of play style.
You should make your decision based off of these factors:
- What research makes you the strongest? ie. combat bonuses
- What research complements your play style?
- What research will you use the most?
Research That Makes You Strongest
Overall the bonuses that make you strongest are combat boosts. Once you have completed those trees you will want to complete the defense tree if you are a trap account, or the crafting, set bonus, and march tree if you want to be a Rally leader or solo attacker.
Research That Complements Your Play Style/ Research You Will Use The Most
If you are solo attacker who tries to catch people offline or off guard, then you might be interested in the March Speed in the March tree. If you only donate troops to Rallies, march speed isn’t important to you.
If you are going to be crafting the highest level gear, then you should do the crafting tree. After talking to a few core experts, they agree that relics are roughly equivalent to core up to 4 pieces.
If you are going to power boost by training millions of troops, then you should work on the restorative tree so you need less resources when training troops.
If you want to zero your enemies extremely quickly with rallies, then you should work on the March tree so you can get rally reduction, increased rally speed, presets, and a bunch of combat bonuses.
General Advice
Don’t research random bonuses just to research them. Try to focus on getting the resources and speed ups to reach high levels of research that are most helpful to you. Especially since as you research higher levels of one bonus item, the amount of bonus you get increase significantly. For example, if you wanted to research cavalry defense, the progression is: +1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15, 20, 25, 40
If you are just starting the game, I recommend you start with the normal combat tree first, then the strategic tree. We’ve proven here before that strategic troops are better, but you have to research normal troops first unfortunately. At the same time work on completing the construction and the resource production bonus of the resource you are hyper farming from the economics tree.
What I have done below is list all the items in every research tree, but I put the most popular/attractive items on the right side of the table so you can more easily identify the important items in each tree. This is my slightly subjective opinion, so be sure to look at all the items in the tree before making your final decision on which one to progress through next.

What research should I be focused on maxing first in preparation for a jump account? And should I max everything in the tree? (In other words should I max out all 10 of one specific research or just get to 5? And move down the tree?)
I appreciate your hard word Chad. Thanks
Thank you Kitty, that means a lot us. The more encouragement the harder we work!
Keep spreading the word and become a member if you haven’t already 🙂
Ok lol
Nice, do you know when the interviews will be coming out
*hopes to death they are not masters content lol*
It’s really hard to say, I’ve never written up an interview before so I’m kinda nervous and misguided, but probably like 3 days if I’m lucky.
LOL The only master content is the stuff in this article https://www.gameofwarrealtips.com/included-in-master-content/
Interviews with anyone famous(that’ll keep readers interested obviously)
Ask and you shall receive. I interviewed two people today who I think you will like hearing from 😉
That’s a good idea! Can’t wait! Get to know the players behind the big castles, lol.
With over 130 articles I feel like I’ve covered a lot of topics, but two things:
1. What articles would like to me to write? I release 2-3 free ones a week.
2. I’m focusing on master articles because that’s what’s keeping this site running. What til you see the troop calculator
Stuff that keeps readers interested like interviews game drama rumors and obviously facts like oh this gear costs xxxxxxxxx silver
Ya that is some good stuff. I’ll work on that sort of content, but it’s more difficult. Who do you want to see interviews with?
You can see gear cost in the hero gear tool.
compliment = to say nice things
complement = goes well together; a good match
lol thanks! I’m an engineer not an english major!
