The Super Wonder
Whether you will admit it or not, deep down, participating in a meaningful way in the ultimate super wonder showdown every month in Game Of War is the dream of every aspiring mega player.
Now, I would first like to congratulate StayAlive77, the one and currently only emperor in the game we have invested our lives in. No one can accuse him of solely purchasing his due recognition and ferocity as the most consistent champion in the games history.
Him and his alliance conglomerate have innovated and devised most of the tactics required for their total dominance, regardless of the inevitable hard losses. Out of respect to him and the entire D:V family, this article is as geared towards them enjoying the decent challenge that they pay for as it is towards the players itching for their shot at the contribution towards GOW’s most epic of all battles.
The person that everyone contributes towards crowning. The StayAlive of the super alliance. This is the person that every other member knowingly contributes their time, cooperation, and many many troops towards making them the sole emperor after the Super Wonder shuts down. This person cannot do it without the help of a normal alliance and a super alliance broken into teams consisting of the top players from SEVERAL kingdoms. Working together is necessary for success.
The sole designated victor bears the brunt of responsibility and supplies needed. The other 99% of players looking to participate have other roles, all which serve a huge purpose. They bear the weight of total responsibility for everyone’s troops and glory. It’s their hero leading the rallies that win the overall event, and defending the wonder when it matters most. Every time they lose that hero, there’s a 6-hour delay before the team can start gaining leader points again. Got to love that hemlock.
The leader must be:
- Large enough that even after a couple of days of steady T4 march losses he is still impossible to burn even with their hero away at the wonder. Right now, probably 25 billion power or higher is the minimum (expect to drop many billion in power).
- Have a seemingly unlimited core bank (my guess, 20 horsemen/odin/emerald sets or more).
- In order to make sure those cores aren’t wasted the leader will need to have the best possible of connection to high speed bandwidth, and the best of gaming devices.
- Have a second device (computer probably) to communicate in real time across the other teams.
Comment the best devices that work for you in Game Of War. Many players have lag problems but I see Youtube videos of people playing with zero lag at all, just smooth scrolling and loading.
There’s way too many tactics about attacking to cover everything in one article. There’s dozens of teams rallying the SW at any given moment. You can use any tactic you see fit as a result of everyone else’s activities; to rally it when you see it as the most opportune time for a win.
The most obvious tactics involve timing your rally to hit seconds after another player from another alliance hits it (leaving a partial defending rally, better odds), but avoiding hitting seconds before another leaders rally. The march set plays an incredibly important part at the SW, and the rally leaders should all have the full sets. 200% march speed needs to be activated before the march is released as well, and from there you can time your arrival to hit by using 5% rally march speed bumps (now changed to one single 5% bump at wonders).
An equally important timing tactic comes from everyone else in the leader’s alliance, the fillers. They need to send the reinforcing t4 marches towards the wonder, timing it to hit 1-2 seconds max AFTER the rally. These troops are instant reinforcements to refill the wonder if your team wins, and complete fubar for the defender if your team loses (I was told that this no longer works at the SW, please comment confirmation or not). Everyone needs to understand, that the fillers in the leader’s alliance is no cheap job, but a crucial part towards winning the event. These are the people who lose more power than anyone at the Super Wonder, full t4 solo marches simply disappear regularly. The great thing about this expensive and vital role is that it can be rotated among many people throughout the entire super wonder attacks. People can come and go to act as these fillers, as long as they know what they’re doing, losses can be spread out among dozens, or even hundreds of players. Remember, if there isn’t enough people sending filler solo marches behind a rally to refill the moment it hits, the next rally that hits could possibly cap your leaders hero if the odds are bad enough (see note above). And if the original rally is defeated, and the wonder defender swallows all of a fillers solo reinforcement marches.
The burden of that role should be spread out; the wonder challenge family will need a lot of dedicated warriors willing to swap in and out to share the losses.
It seems to me that the biggest reason D:V and family are seemingly invincible when it comes to racking up mega points at the SW is their amazing ability to coordinate with teams of members, wreaking havoc on every serious contender. The biggest way to destroy your enemy at the Super Wonder is not to focus on time gained holding, but to never neglect the blocking of your opponents time gained. This is something that the SW leader requires from the other top rally leaders in the team to be successful. The teams wear different tags entirely, and communicate with each other on second devices, like computer live chat programs. That way, there is only 1 designated rally leader per team setting rallies at any given time, and everyone else on that team knows to fill immediately, without distraction.
The job of the blockers is to prevent their biggest threats from stacking any time in the Super Wonder, simply put. If your biggest threat at the moment is a guy named TurdNuggets, the job of one of the blocker teams is to focus entirely on poor Turd until they’re no longer a threat. Every time you see people joing a Turd rally, meaning he’s set on the SW, the current blocker leader assigned to him sets too. Turd releases the rally, blocker does too, and bumps it using 5% rally march speeds until it’s timed to arrive 2-3 seconds max after TurdNuggets. The result should be that IF TurdNuggets won his attack and is the current Emperor, your rally will hit before the SW is reinforced, leaving him short handed, and bouncing him out of the Wonder before he is able to stack any real time holding it. This is absolutely crucial, and the Super Wonder cannot be conquered without the use of blocker teams to block enemy time acquired. The blocker team should all be ready to either fill with trailing marches, or pull all troops on impact, depending on if there’s people hitting right after you, what the lead team needs (possibly to pull and they can solo fill if there’s light traffic), etc. Remember, there’s no need for the blocker team to defend or hold, unless the threat comes to the person they’re assigned to block. Their sole focus is to keep the enemy from gaining time, not gaining time themselves.
It seems to be a preference between 4H or Emerald lately, I’ve seen either one beat the other. But Odin seems to reign supreme over both. So, it basically comes down to a ridiculous amount of full sets crafted, but if you choose all your rallies wisely, and only hit partial armies the instant after they hit another army, you could probably get away with a lot of other options.
If you want to go 1:1 against the maniacs at the Super Wonder and actually win some, it’s a perfect set or bust. Unfortunately, that part of the SW is very cookie cutter, anyone can paint by the numbers. So utilize those recipe crafted sets and win through tactics based on what everyone else is doing.
Gems is another story, MZ has been releasing new gems regularly. From everything I’ve been able to gather, Health Debuff is the most significant at the wonder. Attack Debuff and Defense Debuff both seem to lag behind Attack in general, but please, comment with what boosts work best for you and gems based on that.
The Super Wonder will cost you a lot of troops. Don’t be surprised to drop over a billion power as a filler after a few hours. Know what you’re getting yourselves in to. Plan and prepare accordingly, and give one hell of a fight to keep things interesting.
If challenging the Super Wonder is a serious aspiration of yours, you should probably start making friends with anyone you see kicking serious as in KVK kill events to make a team with.
Note: This is not written based on personal experience battling with StayAlive77. The author of this article went up against Stay for fun once and promptly got his butt kicked repeatedly. This is based on observation, second hand information, and speculation.
Enjoy yourselves! -Viper #386
