In our previous, What’s a Trap, article we began looking at trapping recommendations in every area of the game. Because I have just a few things to say about trapping (insert sarcasm here), we are continuing with the list of things you need to consider as a trap when you are building your account.
A Quick Recap
Make sure you take the chance to go back and read the first part of, What’s a Trap. However, for a quick recap in part one we discussed:
- Stats
- Hidden versus Visible Stats definition
- Troop Composition and Count
- Buildings
The Building of a Dragon Dimension Trap
In this article, we are diving into even more information to prepare you as you seek to build the perfect Dragon Dimension Trap.
Hero
When we look at Heroes for traps we have to consider a couple of things:
- Level
- Power
As you continue to increase the level of your heroes the power will continue to increase. If you are looking to be a low power trap this is something that you must be aware of. In addition, Hero level is a very visible stat. Players can also see how you have skilled heroes when looking at your reports. Regardless of what level you choose to remain at, there are two heroes that I recommend for Traps to use:
- Hero One- This Hero has a focus on type stats.
- Hero Three- This Hero has a focus on Empire Defender stats.
Another thing you will want to consider when looking at leveling is twice without catch up items we have received Instant Hero 200 items. So maintaining a Hero level below 200 can also make you appear too trappy.
Steadfast Hero Skills
Steadfast Hero Skills are our best friends when it comes to trapping. While these stats are a little more out of date at the current time because it has been a minute since this feature has been updated they are perfect stats for a trap. There is no way to tell what level a player has their steadfast skills at making them a great hidden boost, especially since as long as you have them skilled correctly they apply at all times.
Dress your Hero in Style
When we look at gear for traps it can be very easy to simply go for the best gear. However, the most recent gear will often tip players off to the fact that you are a “spender trap.” But using gear that is too old can often tip players off as well. It is necessary to balance your gear choices because unless you are using Hades’s gems it is another visible stat and using Hades Gems can often deter hits as well.
I myself like to either trap in off gear, meaning monster, construction, training, research, etc or a gear combination of an older and newer set. It is important to sit and compare bonuses as you equip your gear and determine what stats you are willing to sacrifice for the sake of a gear combination that looks “hittable.”
Set Gear Leveling and Enhancements
When it comes to set gear leveling and enhancements we really need to break these two down.
- Set Gear Leveling- Set gear leveling stats apply whether you are wearing the gear or not. This means that if you are wearing a full set it is a visible stat. However, if you are able to mix and match gear you can easily slide this into hidden stats. This is a great place to get stats as a trap.
- Enhancements- Enhancements only apply when wearing the gear and are visible stats. However, if you use them sparingly they can be advantageous for example on my defense gear weapon I have an enhancement of 3. This was earned from events
Gems
Gems can also be considered a good hidden stat since you are unable to see the gems that other players are wearing. Currently the top gems we would recommend include:
- Type sets such as the Atrocity Gem Set (Cavalry Gems)
- Sets with Empire Defender stats such as the Desolation Gem Set.
If you are unable to obtain set gems that give good boosts be sure to grab the best gems you have that support your stats for the trap you are building (do not be lazy like me and forget to gem your gear).
Research
Research is a treasure trove of stats as a trap. Earlier research did come with power, however, as it has progressed power no longer plays a role. Due to this factor, much of the newer research can be considered hidden stats. The only way another player can tell how much research you have is by scouting you and this is easy to hide using anti-scout boosts. Even with older research giving power you will want to ensure that it is completed as the amount of power given is small and trees such as the crafting tree will help boost your stats in various areas.
As traps research is a great place to get every type of stat you will need. So do as much as you can and make sure you check out our research guides for more information about the various researches that are available.
Boost Hall
The Boost Hall has continued to have stats added in and activating these lifetime boosts is really going to help send your stats soaring. This is one of my favorite hidden stats in the game. Many of the older components you are able to get from events making this a low spender trap treasure trove.
When you are activating boosts within the boost hall you are once again going to be looking at type stats and empire defender stats. This is once again where your individual account and strategy are going to come into play. As a tiny solo trap, I have to determine the best ways to spend my components and if I am limited on components of how I am going to prioritize what I need.
Dragons
Dragons are another important component of traps. Making sure you have these guys skilled correctly and healed is going to help you be stronger and more successful as a trap. With our Reborn the reborn skill and below are the stats you will really want to focus on.
With the newer dragons, it is all about the type stats. These dragons do not have Empire Defender stats so you will really want to focus on the type stats that they do have.
Monsters
Monsters in the Wall are imperative. While this stat is not fully hidden it is one that is difficult to see outside of scout reports and battle reports. When deciding what Monster to equip to your wall you will need to look at two factors:
- The number of wall slots you have open
- The level of your Monsters and the stats that they provide
It would be easy to tell you to equip Monster A, B, and C, however, if Monster D has better stats than Monster A because of your leveling then that does not make sense. The monster choice needs to be determined based on levels and the stats provided. However, I will provide you with a list of my favorite defensive monsters. Keep an eye on the Monsters that can be leveled to 50 now.
Avatars
Avatars can make you look pretty in chat but they can also give some great bonuses. The best thing about avatar bonuses is there is no way to tell that you have them. These stats can range from small to significant but they do add up. As for traps, these are boosts we want to work to obtain because they are one of the factors that can help give us an extra edge.
Potions
Potions are another beautiful boost that is hidden. These are great because they allow us to get a boost that does not show and we can craft that boost to meet our individual needs as a trap. So you can focus on Empire Defender Vials or Type Stat vials. With the current state of the game and many attackers sending missiles it can be very easy to craft a counter potion. Potions are a perfect boost but make sure to only equip them when you are ready to go into battle.
Boosts
Last but not least let’s talk about Consumable Boosts. These are boosts such as Synergy, Empire Defender Health, Dragon Armor Break, etc. These boosts only last a short time and are consumable so you want to be sure to use them wisely, while these boosts do show up on scout reports many can be hidden with anti-scout.
- Synergy- When using synergy do your best to counter the incoming attack. These boosts are an hour max and the health synergy should be used for traps.
- Dragon Armor Break- This is maxed at Stronghold 80 and the boost
- Attack, Troop Health, and Defense boosts cannot be used with anti-scout. However, there are a plethora of other Empire Defender Boosts that can be used with anti-scout.
