When Your Hero Will Escape Prison
If you are fortunate enough, you can get your Hero back immediately thanks to two items. If not, you will have to wait an agonizing amount of time. The good news is that no matter what happens, your Hero dying is not the end of the world.
Two Ways to Get Your Hero Back Immediately
The two ways to get your Hero back immediately are from Hemlock or Instant Execution.
Hemlock
When you use the item “Hemlock” you are sacrificing your Hero intentionally in order to get it back sooner. Your Hero “eats” the Hemlock while he’s in the enemy prison and automatically dies after the time period defined on your Hemlock item. Currently there are three different time frames for Hemlock: 2 hours, 4 hours, and 6 hours.
To clarify, you do not lose your Gear or Gems when your Hero dies, unless you are wearing Cores and the timer runs out (which it will because no Cores last for two hours).
Instant Execution
When your enemy uses the Instant Execution item, they kill your Hero immediately. Enemies will often use this item when they’ve captured your Hero and don’t want it to be rescued by your Alliance. Instead of waiting for execution time to arrive which would leave them vulnerable, and instead of just releasing your Hero and letting it wreak havoc on the rest of their Kingdom, they use Instant Execution. Cores do not auto expire when you use instant execution.

Regular Execution Times

Your hero will attempt to escape after the execution time period, but his escape time is dependent on the captor’s Prison level and your Hero level.
- The higher their Prison level, the longer they can hold your Hero.
- The higher your Hero, the shorter they can hold your Hero.
Unfortunately the exact time periods are not known. You will see a countdown timer that says “Time Until Execution”, but that is only the earliest time your enemy can execute your Hero. The amount of time they can hold onto your Hero after the “Time Until Execution” is determined by the two points above.
Finally, your Hero will not lose any experience unless you don’t Resurrect it for 7 days. Take some time to relax, hang out with your Alliance, and plan your next KvK!
Enjoy!

I tried to find my captors but I don’t know how I only get a blank hero profile
This is odd. I’ve never seen a screen like that. Have you tried re-installing the app?
Did you figure out how to fix this as my profile is doing the same thing
Wait a second. If I instant execute a cored hero in my prison the cores automatically expire??is that right? Did not know that!! Good to know that as a trap.
No they keep their cited as long as they had left on them.
Cores*
Corrected.
Ok, but this says NOTHING about when a SH 10 to 14 will escape? Since they cannot be executed, when will they be released?
Thanks for the article. My hero was captured by Patrick [email protected] 3+ days ago and still isn’t released. Hero is lvl 51 and Partrick is a 7B player with who knows what research beyond a lvl 21 prison. I’ve attempted to message him – we’ll see if he ever replies. Any knowledge on how long he can keep my hero?
Amen Brotha! MZ is a piece of shit money hungry machine. Big accounts shouldn’t be able to attack smaller accounts. There should be a power ranking system because how can a 35mil account ever hope to defeat a 7 bill account. Most alliances together can’t even…
This is more BS on MZ’s part that benefits the big accounts. When your hero returns from a rally do you get a 7-10 hour “free pass” to reset another rally? No. If your hero is freed/escapes do you get a 7-10 hour “free pass” to shield/set a rally before he can be recaptured? No. So why should a “captor” get a 7-10 hour free pass to kill a hero? On more than one occasion I’ve forgotten to reset a rally, had my rally start marching, and then had to stay awake, wake up early/middle of the night, interrupt whatever I was doing (including, once, driving) or use speed-ups to get my rally back so that I could set another rally and make sure my hero was safe. If people have to do that then certainly the “big boys” who are capturing heroes for execution can set an alarm to execute a hero. Give them an hour max to execute a hero. If they want more time to execute, make them pay for it with gold and/or research.
You re an idiot.
I just had a lvl 45 hero I captured escape immediately at the time it was to be executed. Not even 10 seconds delay and I have a lvl 21 Prison Hero 50. WTF?! I have 3 more lvl 48-49 heroes ready to execute in 3-4 hours, I will be on the prisoner screen the moment it expires this time.
hahahaha sounds like a bug to me. never heard of that.
Sounds like that player was under lvl 15 Stronghold with a lvl45 hero….which is completely do-able 🙂
Time expired on mine about 12 hours ago and still no escape. Have L50 hero and captor has L21 Prison
There should be an “attempt escape” button…
LOL that would be so awesome
They seem to hold my hero forever… It was over ten hours last time…
Oh, and I have a 21 SH and lvl 50 hero as did the captor of my hero.
10 hours! So very lame. I was looking forward to having my hero. Lol I’d rather they just execute.
it was 7-8 hours for a lvl 40 hero and lvl 15 prison
Any new guidance on how long we can expect to be able to hold a hero after the execute button turns red and we have a lvl 21 prison?
I would love to know myself. I have 3 heroes to kill tonight between 2 – 5am – yikes! I know I’ve held one for 4 hours one time and was still able to execute it. I usually don’t risk it though, hate losing that altar bonus!
Unhelpful. You could have at least listed the amount of time, if the enemy has a level 21 prison, and if you have a level 50 hero.
Sorry the times vary a lot, and the information you want wouldn’t help 80% of players who are below sh21 and L50 hero :/
I’ll look into getting more information on this though.
It should be noted that if your hero is executed, you have 7 days to revive it by purchasing a resurrection from the alliance store for 500k loyalty points, or purchasing one with gold for 6k gold. Prison times can be viewed by opening the prison and selecting “More Information”. These times do not take into account hero level, so the times will vary. Guess you’ll just have to capture a hero of every level to find out the difference.
Awesome man! Keep it up! I like the music too!
Thanks! Haha I’m glad you like it!
